Went to Internatinal Patient Liason Office and was greeted politely, was asked to fill out a form and show my passport. Waited in comfortable area then was shown to Orthopedic Surgery Section, where they explained the fees. This was a comfortable and clean waiting area. I did not wait long at all (in fact, entered at the appointed time). Saw Dr. Andrew Dutton (Singaporean Chinese, based on appearance). He had trained in Singapore and Autralia. Immediately made a good impression. He was polite, professional and clearly competent. He took a full history and then did a full physical check of my knee. He zeroed in on the problem and correctly diagnosed it as a meniscal tear. He showed me a video of arthroscopy and patiently answered my questions regarding further diagnostic tests (he recommended an MRI, which was correct). He inspired full confidence and I would have no hesitation having him operate on my knee. I asked for estimates on how much arthroscopy would cost, and the nurse provided a clear printout with costs for day patient and inpatient surgery, with a full explanation (see those docs).
