The YMCA International House has something to suit everyone’s needs and budget, so attracts a diverse crowd ranging from student groups to business travelers.  The rack rates are high but on-going promotions make their standard rooms one of the best values in the city centre.   The rooms have been recently refurbished and are bright and spacious with all-new furnishings and fixtures. Standard rooms have 2 twin beds and come with a small TV, mini-fridge, phone, and writing desk.  Bathrooms have frosted glass shower stalls (none with tubs) and new towels and toiletries are provided daily.  The hotel’s hallways can get a bit noisy with people coming and going, so request a room away from the elevators if you’re a light sleeper.  Guests intending to mix business with pleasure will appreciate the mini-office within the Junior Suites, plus they’re located in a quieter wing of the building. The Family rooms are more spacious and have 3 or 4 beds, making them ideal for groups as well.  For those on a tight budget, the “student room” rate gets you a bunk in a 4-bed room with attached bathroom.  It’s nothing fancy and has no amenities to speak of, but there’s comfy sofas and cable TV in the members’ lounge.  All rates include a hearty buffet breakfast, wireless internet, and access to their rooftop pool and gym facilities.  If you’re not a YMCA member you’ll have to temporarily join for $3.21.  The location, 1 Orchard Road, straddles the border between Orchard and downtown and the best of Singapore’s museums, dining, and shopping are minutes away.
