In a gated complex just off Saladaeng Road, the Bangkok Christian Guesthouse has been accommodating travelers since 1926.  Of course, the current guesthouse is more modern than that and was built in 1975.  The guestrooms are very simple with a few pieces of wooden furniture, firm beds, and bare white walls.  The only luxuries in them are the air-conditioner and a small TV.  Similarly, the bathroom is basic but functional with a western style toilet, sink, and standing shower – don’t expect a basket with scented soaps and shampoos.  A few more amenities can be found in the lounge located each floor. These common areas have a table, chairs, fridge, and an iron for guests to use.  One highlight is the large guesthouse garden, a refreshing green space amid the concrete jungle of Bangkok.  The guesthouse aims to provide safe and affordable accommodations for families, and connecting rooms and rooms with up to 5 beds are available.  Rates include a Western-style breakfast which is served in the dining hall on the ground floor. Here, you’ll also find Internet kiosks, a children’s play area, a small library, and a shop selling drinks and light snacks.  You don’t need to be Christian to stay here, but you do have to follow some rules to maintain the family-friendly environment – no smoking, no alcohol, and no visitors after 10 PM.
